3D modelling fun

I've been toying with the idea of building a little office in the garden so I can free up the spare room in the house.  Having looked around at the exhorbitantly priced commercial offerings, (£8000 for an insulated shed anyone ?), I decided that I'd be much better off just buidling one myself.

With this in mind, the opportunity to be geeky presented itself and I sought out some 3d rendering software that I could use to play with some mock-ups.   After trying a couple I stumbled across Sweethome 3D.

It's a free design application which runs on Windows, Mac and Linux (yay !)   It's really simple to use, and even let's you do fly-through video.

My first bash was fun, and only took about 20 minutes to do.

I even did a (very) rough and ready fly-through video, just for fun.   I'm running a much more complex one with better quality now, but the rendering takes a while !
