Life has felt like a bit of a slog just lately. I’ve been working long hours to stay on top of things, have been trying to get all kinds of DIY jobs done on the house and trying to get out on the bike and keep some fitness for the just-passed Bontrager TwentyFour12 event. Don’t […]
It barely seems like a month ago that I rode in the first round of the Off Camber XC MTB race series, but true enough round 2 had arrived. The weather had changed a lot in the past few weeks, going from late Summer warmth to heavy Autumn rain; something I suspected was going to […]
In addition to running weekly rides and gatherings, my local mountain bike club, The Dorset Rough Riders, hold a couple of larger events each year. There is typically one in the Purbeck area of Dorset in the spring and another in North Dorset in the late summer / early autumn. Last weekend marked the […]
My quest to get into doing more organised racing got a kick-start recently with the announcement of the dates for the OffCamber XC race series. OffCamber is our local bike shop, and they run the series through the winter months at a venue just a few miles away from my home. The weather for […]
A not-so-short account of our first Bontrager Twentyfour12 event. It all started one day back in early February of this year. I stopped off on a quick ride around the local hills to take a snapshot of a particularly pleasant bit of the ride.
I haven’t done a proper write-up, and to be honest I’m not likely to given how much free time I seem not to have ! The UK Cycling Events Southern Rough Ride was a great day. Some tough hills out there on the downs, especially given my current level of fitness. As always, it was […]
I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve been a bit lax on the old mountain biking front just lately. Being ill at the start of the new year slowed me down a lot and a lot of my spare time has been taken up with the new Land Rover… all that said, there isn’t […]
A recent trip to the Scottish borders gave us the opportunity to visit one of the UK’s mountain biking Meccas. The Glentress mountain bike centre nestles between Peebles and Innerleithen and has some of the best riding I’ve seen.
Well, it was our first time at the Mountain Mayhem at Eastnor castle, and it was a tough one ! The weather made the whole thing more a matter of survival than of competition. A few thoughts about the event are below..
